Scrappy and Krazy Kat Opening Titles (1930-33)

Perhaps the rarest Columbia titles of all are those of Scrappy and Krazy Kat. In the 1950s, a home movie distributor called Samba Pictures purchased Columbia's entire library of black and white Scrappy and Krazy Kat cartoons. Samba gave these shorts new reissue titles that appear to have been crude retracings of the 1934-39 Scrappy and Krazy titles. For years, the titles of these shorts have been considered lost until just recently. Below are the original titles for your viewing pleasure. Jerry Beck uncovered the two rare Scrappy titles while working in the Columbia archives. The rare Krazy title on the far right was rescued by Cole Johnson from a 35mm deteriorated print of "Disarmament Conference" (1931). Johnson was able to send it to Jerry Beck for preservation who then made a negative of the frame and created an 8" x 10" still photograph blow-up for his archives.

Scrappy and Krazy Kat Titles (1934-39)

While the earlier titles are harder to find, the original 1934-39 Scrappy and Krazy Kat titles are surprisingly quite common.
